Anxiety and panic aren't signs that something is wrong with you — they're signs that something is dysregulated in your brain. At Foster the Mind, we use non-invasive, brain-based therapies to calm the overactive circuits driving your fear response — so you can finally think clearly, breathe easy, and get your life back.
You've probably been told to "just relax" or "stop overthinking." If it were that simple, you already would have. Anxiety and panic aren't habits you can think your way out of — they're your brain's threat-detection system misfiring, treating everyday situations like emergencies.
Maybe it shows up as constant low-grade worry you can't shake. Maybe it's panic attacks that come out of nowhere — racing heart, chest tightness, the terrifying feeling of losing control. Maybe it's the slow erosion of avoiding more and more situations just to feel safe.
Over time, anxiety doesn't just stay in the background. It shrinks your world.
Foster the Mind was founded by Bryan Butler, who spent decades living with crippling anxiety rooted in childhood trauma. He tried medication, conventional therapy, and still found himself overwhelmed and hopeless — until brain-based therapy changed everything. He built this practice so others wouldn't have to wait as long as he did for real relief.
Our team specializes in the cases where anxiety has proven stubborn — where medication hasn't been enough, or where you're ready to address the root cause instead of just managing symptoms.

Our patients don't just describe feeling calmer — they describe a kind of freedom they'd forgotten was possible. Fewer racing thoughts. Sounder sleep. The ability to walk into situations that used to feel impossible. More presence with the people they love.
For children and teens, it often means school feels manageable again, friendships deepen, and confidence grows. For adults, it means showing up fully — at work, at home, in their own skin.

"The changes in our family have been dramatic... I feel like a better parent and a better version of myself."

You don't have to keep white-knuckling through this.
Your first step is a free consultation — a real conversation about what's happening in your brain and what's possible for your recovery.
Foster the Mind is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to making the world a safe and joyful place for every mind. We work with private pay patients to sustain our clinical practice. We accept support from donors and sponsors to provide free or low-cost treatment to foster children and other underserved populations.
