Autism isn't something to fix. It's a different way of experiencing the world, and it comes with real strengths. But sensory overwhelm, trouble focusing, and big emotions that are hard to regulate can make everyday life harder than it needs to be. At Foster the Mind, we use non-invasive, brain-based therapies to help calm those struggles, so your child or loved one can use their strengths and feel more at ease in their own life.
You've watched the meltdown after a loud classroom. The shutdown after too much noise or too many people. The frustration of a mind that can focus intensely on one thing and can't settle on another. You've been told to just "manage it" or that it's "part of who they are, so push through."
But pushing through a nervous system that's overloaded isn't a real plan. Sensory sensitivity, emotional regulation, and focus are brain-based challenges, and when the brain is stuck working overtime just to cope, it has less room left for connection, learning, and joy. You need something that works where the struggle actually lives.
Foster the Mind was founded by Bryan Butler, a person who lived with severe depression for decades, survived multiple suicide attempts, and found his way out through brain-based therapy when nothing else worked. He built this practice to bring that same relief to others, including children, teens, and adults on the autism spectrum.
Our team combines deep personal understanding with advanced, evidence-based therapies, and we specialize in the cases others haven't been able to crack. We don't try to change who your loved one is. We help their brain handle the load so their strengths can come through.

Families describe more than "better behavior." They describe a child or loved one who feels calmer, more confident, and more able to lean into what they're good at. Sensory meltdowns ease. Focus improves. Emotional outbursts soften into manageable moments. And families get their own peace back too.

"The changes in our family have been dramatic... I feel like a better parent and a better version of myself."

You don't have to navigate this alone.
Your first step is a free consultation, a real conversation about what's happening in your loved one's brain and how we can help them thrive.
Foster the Mind is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to making the world a safe and joyful place for every mind. We work with private pay patients to sustain our clinical practice. We accept support from donors and sponsors to provide free or low-cost treatment to foster children and other underserved populations.
